Thoughts of Grandeur

70 cm x 50 cm x 20 cm

Mould blown glass, cut and polished, and mounted on granite.

This sculpture is a representation of the way people can sometimes think of themselves as being far more important than they really are. The base is a representation of the brain and subconscious, which is the starting point of all conscious thought. In this case it is very substantial in order to show that these people believe themselves to be extraordinary. Thoughts can flow from the subconscious the way water can flow in a river, so the piece has a flowing quality across the subconscious. If you look down the sculpture you will see an almost turbine like effect from each piece as they are arranged slightly off so that you can see each of them individually. This shows that the thoughts are ebbing and flowing on the subconscious. This technique represents nature, life, energy, and movement.
