Broken Dreams

Mould blown glass, cut and polished, and UV bonded to granite.

It is a sculptural piece of glass art that is a representation of someone who has had his or her dreams broken. The glass represents the thoughts people have and the granite represents the subconscious mind. The piece has been hand blown into a cylinder and then cut on a diamond saw into diverse parts. These elements were then ground and polished to a high polish. Each piece was then carefully arranged in sequence and placed into position. The design inspiration was the power of the mind and the way thoughts could be considered human energy, that once held high, or on a pedestal, have been broken and ruined. The base is a representation of the brain and subconscious, which is the starting point for all conscious thought.
